CHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

The MSU Alumni Club of Manistee County is proud to announce the 2010 scholarship recipients. The club awarded a total of $2,550 in scholarship funds to four deserving local students. All of the candidates are engaging and impressive young men. They will represent Manistee County well in East Lansing and we wish them the best of luck and success in the future.

2010 Scholarship Recipients

ROGER MULLET -Bear Lake High School

Roger is graduating as the Valedictorian from Bear Lake High School with a 4.0 GPA and will be entering Michigan State University's Lyman Briggs College of Natural Science. He was active with basketball, baseball, cross country and was first team all-conference in golf. He also participated in National Honor Society, Quiz Bowl, Science Olympiad and band. Roger is an Eagle Scout and serves as assistant scoutmaster. He is the son of Mark and Lori Mullett.

FRANKLIN LOOMIS - Manistee High School


Franklin will be enrolled in the Lyman Briggs College of Natural Science at MSU and will be studying pre-medicine following his graduation from Manistee with a GPA of 3.993. In addition to being on the soccer, track and skiing teams at MHS, Franklin performed in orchestra and band. He also was involved in National Honor Society,participated in Boy's State and has volunteered in school and community events. His parents are Steve Loomis and Mari Gladish.

THOMAS BOND - Manistee High School


Thomas will be a student in MSU's College of Social Science and will major in psychology. His GPA at Manistee High was 3.988. He is an accomplished pianist and performs in dance and visual arts. He was on the tennis and baseball teams, active in National Honor Society and school newspaper, and involved with the Ramsdell Theater as a sound technician and board. Thomas is the son of Ingrid Bond and Jim Bond.

KEVIN KOTT - Manistee High School


Kevin is also graduating from MHS, with a GPA of 3.91, and will matriculate in MSU's School of Kinesiology . He was captain of the basketball, baseball and football teams and played all four years of high school on them. He served in the National Honor Society, and has volunteered in community activities of Pop Warner football, Ghost Ship and Safe Harbor. He is the son of Kenn and Shellly Kott, and Debbie and Tom Reilly.
